About Me

Hi there! My name is Ericka and you have reached my blog! Let me say, welcome and I hope you enjoy your visit!

I am a 30 year old single mom of a beautiful and creative 8 year old who is the love of my life! I currently am a stay at home mom. I consider myself a jack of all trades type. I am also a self taught, freelance makeup artist. I do beautification makeup as well as special effects makeup.

I am also a stroke survivor. In June of 2014 I had been having some dizzy spells and one day it was more than I could handle. I went to the emergency room and was diagnosed with a stroke that left damage in my brain. I am fortunate that I do not have any major damage. I have hand tremors that have caused me to have to take a step back from doing other people's makeup. I also have chronic migraines now, but it could have been way worse. I have been diagnosed with a incurable blood clotting disorder and am on blood thinners for the rest of my life. This makes it very difficult to live on my own as I am constantly under watch for another stroke.

I share a home with my daughter, my mother, my brother and his girlfriend. We are also fur parents to 3 dogs and 3 cats. Animals are another passion of mine. I volunteer on a regular basis at a local animal shelter to help with walking and playing with the animals while they wait for their forever homes. I have also assisted with a few animal rescues.

I am also an avid DIYer. I love trying out new things that I can do myself to save money or to express creativity. I work with pallet and reclaimed wood to make beautiful things from them. I like working with pallets, driftwood and other reclaimed wood because each piece has its own character and story. This blog is intended for me to share my experiences in all of these things. I welcome comments, thoughts and questions of any type. No such thing as a dumb question.
